Statistically, people who grow up in rough neighborhoods and single parent households are not likely to make it far in the real world once they become adults. On average, many people who grow up in low income households in neighborhoods that are funded very low by the government either end up in jail or in a graveyard. However, many people have proven this statistical information to be wrong and very inaccurate, being that they have now become very successful in their business ventures and endeavors. Some of them may have even become business owners, such as Tarus Alexander.

Tarus Alexander, an Atlanta native, has decided to bring back a little sugar, spice, and everything nice to the west side of Atlanta. Mr. Alexander grew up in Hollywood Court, one of the roughest project complexes that has ever graced Atlanta with its presence. Growing up has not always been a walk in the park for Mr. Alexander. As the eldest of five children, he was held to great responsibility when it came to ensuring that his family was in good hands. Being that his mother was a single parent, it was very hard for her to provide for her children the way she wanted to. The Alexanders faced many different hardships in life, many of which should have typically made the members of the family become the opposite of what they are today, successful.

Tarus Alexander is the founder of TBA BBQ. He owns a mobilized barbeque smoker that shows his appreciation and outstanding love for his hometown NFL team, the Atlanta Falcons. Although it was not easy for Mr. Alexander to purchase this smoker, he put in extra work and overtime trying to ensure that he made his dreams become a reality instead of a continuous thought. The business was founded to simply bring back something for the people on the west side of Atlanta to enjoy, and also to show the love Mr. Alexander has for cooking and satisfying the people within the community he was raised. Even though the business has only been open since July, customer satisfaction and growth has increased tremendously and is only expected to get better over time.

Tarus Alexander is a living testimony that troubles do not last always and that tough times and situations will only make an individual stronger than they have ever been. Mr. Alexander is a product of a neighborhood that is only known for bad things, but is not seen for the good it has actually done in the lives of the people who occupied the space. This goes to show the world that everyone is not a statistic and there is nothing impossible for anyone to do. Success does not come easy to those who truly want it and work hard to get it. If you have a dream, go for it. Shoot for the stars and attempt to land on the moon like Mr. Alexander, that way all blessings will forever be in your favor. Mr. Alexander is truly "The Best Around".

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
