Seeing as though The 1975 has been my favorite band since I was 17 and I am now 20, I owe this band a tremendous thank you. The 1975 is a band consisted of Matty Healy (yes, it is Matty…not Matt… Don’t call him Matt), George Daniel, Ross MacDonald, and of course, Adam Hann. These four members are best friends 'till the end, and they radiate their love for one another and their fans. It is such a breath of fresh air to see a band that has such love for the music, each other, and their fans in today's time. I’ve seen The 1975 live twice now, and each time it gets better and better. This is simply because The 1975 is relatable. Although this band is from Manchester, UK, and I am from Birmingham, Alabama, they still find a way to relate to me. They make music for a purpose, not a lifestyle. The 1975 is starting to become somewhat of a movement. Discretely encouraging us all to say “F*** that get money” whenever the tough times are upon us.
This band is dedicated to the music. The 1975’s music tells a story. Listening to the lyrics and hearing the band speak about their music, we can all recognize the passion that each member has to their music. Each member contributes something different to what makes The 1975 The 1975. Although it was not an easy start for this band, they never gave up. Being told “no” and “you can’t call yourself The 1975”, Matty, George, Ross, and Adam persisted into becoming who they are today. I think that’s something we can all admire about this band. The 1975’s persistence is inspiring. Experiencing this band live is like nothing else in the world. Matty takes the time to connect the crowd to one another, which is what a lot of bands forget to do. Although we are all different, Matty makes it a priority to connect us through a simple speech. He and his band mates truly live for the music, and I thank them for this. So thank you, The 1975, for connecting us all in ways we never knew were possible and for always providing your fans with everlasting memories and inspiration.
