A Thank You Letter To My Boyfriend

Dear Boyfriend,

When we met in class about two years ago, I didn’t know that I would soon become friends with you. Then a bit down the road you liked me enough to want me to be your girlfriend, and I have been smiling ever since. But you have given me so much more than just a formal date and hugs. You’ve helped me become a better person, and helped me achieve things I never would have dreamed of. The only thing I can really say is thank you.

Thank you for being my best friend. When I am with you, I am 110 percent my true self and you have even helped me find more of my true self (if that’s even possible). You have been there with me through many ups and downs either with a huge hug of congratulations or a hug ensuring me it will all be okay. You laugh when I tell jokes I don’t think are that funny, and you talk in weird voices with me. You’ll take me to get queso when I’m craving it, go on Whataburger runs at 11 p.m. with me, or even surprise me with cupcakes or other treats just because you wanted to. You also know me better than I know myself, which scares me at times. In a good way of course.

Thank you for always believing in me. I know I am not the most confident person, but you are my biggest supporter and have never stopped believing in me from day one. You encourage me with words of kindness and Bible verses when I was either scared for a test or I was just having one of those “blah” days. If it wasn’t for you continually telling me that I can do anything I put my mind to, I would have never gotten that internship I was praying for, or face any fear that I had head on. You’ll never know how much I appreciate you always having my back when I’m in need.

Thank you for being a voice of reason. I could tell you a predicament I am in, hoping to hear the advice that I want to hear, but you will give me the advice that I should be hearing. Having you as my voice of reason (and the fact that you are a boy) helps me get another perspective that might help me with anything. Sometimes you’ve experienced the same thing I have to deal with, and you will tell me how you dealt with it and suggest I do the same or something similar. You always know what to say and even if you think it won’t help, trust me, it does. Thank you for always listening to anything and everything I say; whether it be silly or serious.

Thank you for showing me what love is. I’ve never had a serious relationship before, but I thank my lucky stars I have one with you. You do so much for me that I could never repay you and it’s all done from the kindness of your heart. From a simple “I love you” to even a text saying “let me know when you get home,” I feel so loved and cared for that it makes my heart smile. I don’t know how my life would be if I hadn’t met you, but I am glad I don’t have to worry about that. Thank you for everything you do for me and loving me with all of your heart.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
