A Thank You Letter To Lush

You're the "bomb."

Dear Lush,

For years now, I have been lured into your stores by the sweet and distinctive smell of your handmade soaps, bath bombs, bubble bars and much more. I can't say mine or my parents' bank accounts are too happy about this obsession, but honestly, as I soak in a hot bath smelling of roses and emerge covered in a light sheen of glitter, I could care less.

Thank you for having amazing products that freshen my face and at the same time terrify my roommates when I come out of my room to grab a drink.

Seeing as sleep is a foreign concept to college students (which sadly includes myself), using face masks is kind of routine for me. But y'all never fail to make something that leaves my face feeling nice and smooth and ready for the next day.

Well, maybe not totally ready, but it's the feeling that counts.

Also, thank you for creating galaxies in my bathtub for me to float away in before I go to sleep at night, especially after a hard day at work and in classes.

For those who are unaware, Texas State is basically a bunch of hills clustered together. So no matter what angle you approach from, you will be climbing uphill and unless you've got the calves of a God, you'll probably be sore after walking around for more than five hours a day. Thankfully, I have bath bombs to come back to.

In addition to turning my tub into a galaxy, thank you also for creating enormous bubbles in my bathtub and helping me relive my childhood once again.

Sometimes I add bubble bars to the bath bombs just to add a little...pizazz, if you will. But some bubble bars can just be used on their own. Either way, I feel like a small child again as I splash around in bubbles and distantly wish I had a rubber ducky or two to accompany me in the bath.

And, of course, thank you for the amazing bar soaps that leave me smelling absolutely divine once I step out of the shower.

I don't use bar soaps often, but when I do, they're always Lush bar soaps. Each have a unique scent and while I have my favorites, I still make it a point to try out new ones because more often than not, Lush never fails to make a great soap.

I feel like there should be a VIP membership for Lush purchases. I'm fairly certain I'd be near the top if that were the case. But, if anything, that just proves how much I adore the brand.

So thank you, Lush, for making my life smell beautiful.

Sincerely,

Jessy

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
