Ten Things English Education Majors are Tired of Hearing
The Odyssey

You have the English majors and then you have the Education majors, but where is the love for the English Education peeps? There's nothing more refreshing than hearing "Wait, you picked English AND Education? Are you running a fever?". I promise were not THAT insane. We get so many questions from people who just cant manage to grasp the fact that we want to teach kids one of the most dreaded subjects for the rest of our lives.

1.) Wait, you're actually going to be a teacher?

Yes, I actually am. Bet you weren't expecting that answer when you asked what I was going to do with an English degree. Jokes on you guys, I have that part of this whole shebang figured out

2.) Haven't you ever thought of doing something that makes more money?

Well, yes. I actually have... Several times. In the end, I realized that happiness isn't about money. What's important is that I'll be doing something that I love every single day.

3.) Have you heard the saying, "If you can't do then you teach"?

When I hear this question the first thing that comes to my mind is, "Have you met a teacher?". Seriously, though, they work so hard and they do most of the work on their own time. No overtime pay. Trust me, the teachers I know can definitely do, but they decided to try to make uneducated and judgemental fools like you just a little bit smarter to save people like me from those kinds of questions.

4.) Why?

This one bothers me the most. Why? Why on earth would you want to be a teacher? Have you ever thought about how much of an impact a teacher makes on their students? Sometimes a teacher is their only source of encouragement or the only constant in their life. I want to inspire people to do great things and let them know that they're cared for.

5.) How do you feel about going to school for the rest of your life?

Clearly, it doesn't bother me too bad. If it did I would be picking a new career.

6.) Is it just because you get summers off?

I mean, that is definitely a HUGE perk, but it's not everything about being a teacher.

7.) How could you possibly enjoy writing that much?

I'm certifiably insane by some people's standards. If you actually looked in my notebooks there are fewer notes and more short stories and article ideas written everywhere. I love to write.

8.) Do you spend all your time correcting people's grammar?

No, but yes. If you're mean to me I will correct it every chance I get, but if you're actually a decent human being I'll let a few slip ups happen every now and then. Nobody is perfect.

9.) So you wouldn't mind proofreading this for me?

Actually, I do mind. I have little to no time to proof read your work due to the amount of writing I am doing.

10.) Are you going to be an author?

I would love to be an author one day, but once again, finding the time between classes, family time, my friends, working, and reading is awfully hard. Maybe one day I'll lock myself in a room and get the job done, but I'm just not feeling that right now.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.
