After 8 years of wanting a tattoo, the day after I graduated from high school, my dream finally came true. When it came time to finalize the details, the who, where, and why seemed to be the most important questions. Another question was posed: would my parents approve? Thankfully, 8 years had given me a chance to come up with an answer for all of these questions.
Once I had decided on what I wanted my tattoo to look like the next step was location, location, location. My parents only had two requirements in order for the agreement of allowing me to get my tattoo. The first being that the tattoo have meaning to me and that it was not something stupid. The second was that it be somewhere that could be hidden. While I had originally wanted mine on my shoulder, my parents asked that I put it somewhere that would not appear in my wedding pictures. So, I opted for a place that many people have: the side of my foot. My tattoo is of Philippians 4:13, placed on my left as it is my least dominant foot. The thought being that even in the weakest parts of my life, I can do all things because God gives me strength.
While not large in size, my tattoo makes up for it in meaning. I am so thankful that every day, I wake up and get to see my beautiful tattoo. Becoming a part of team tatted was one of the best decisions of my life.
