Taylorgate: The Greatest Scandal Of Our Generation

Well it all dates back to the 2009 MTV Video Music awards. Taylor Lautner presented the 'award heard round the world': "award for best female video goes to Taylor Swift". Taylor is wholeheartedly shocked and honored for this award, one that had many qualified competitors. At this time, me along with many others, were rooting for innocent Taylor Swift (you know, when she was still a country singer). She went on to accept her award and began her humbled acceptance speech. Out of nowhere Kanye West enters the scene.

The rest, is history. Literally.

Kanye then proclaims the most iconic lines of 2009. "Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time." Then he Kayne shrugs and calls it a day. Even though I definitely agree with Kanye, I mean, "Single Ladies" inspired remakes and dances that are even popular, 7 years later. Even Michelle Obama and James Corden performed a snip bit of it in Corden's latest episode of Carpool Karaoke.

Regardless, the world heavily sympathized with Taylor, Kanye ruined her moment. Taylor awkwardly stood there, humiliated in her steps. She was the victim. At 20 years old, we all felt bad for her. 7 years later, the tables have turned.

Kanye West's song "Famous" came out. And yet again, a Kanye line took the world by storm. The song's lyrics "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b*tch famous" seemingly attacked "victim" Taylor Swift. As the story unfolded Kanye revealed that him and Taylor had a conversation where she agreed to the line and found it a compliment. Taylor took the opportunity to play the victim; however, this time around it didn't work out so well. She claimed Kanye never had called her or asked her permission. Which honestly he doesn't have to do, most rappers don't call and ask for permission.

Well this went on for quite some time. As Kanye was blamed for lying and tearing this poor girl down once again.

That was until "no talent" (puh-lease) Kim Kardashian West swooped in with her A1 private eye investigation and cleared her husband's name.

Sunday night - 7/17/16, Kim released the Snap Chat story of the century. She revealed the conversation of Taylor thanking Kanye for calling and even referring to Kanye's line as a "compliment". Apparently she found the sex line okay, but calling her a b*tch crossed the line. Which is pretty ironic because people would generally be offended by the whole thing, or fine with it, not just parts and pieces.

Also, Taylor famously uses her breakups as her hit singles, where her ex-boyfriend is generally torn to shreds. She even slut shamed Joe Jonas' girlfriend in her 2010 hit 'Better Than Revenge'.

Ultimately, Taylor is now exposed as a liar. Her innocent charm has been demolished as her sneaky, or Kim's favorite way to describe Taylor- snake like, manner has come out.

What I have learned from this whole encounter is that Kim needs a job in the FBI, at least an interview! I mean come on, she single handedly exposed Taylorgate.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
