October behind us and November upon us, countless Swifties remain utterly confused by Taylor Swift's music absence. Taylor, what's up? We waited with expectation and are saddened by the discomforting fact that you may not release an album this year. We understand that you are busier than busy, but this is so unlike you. Especially considering the very specific pattern you have maintained throughout the years. Not even to mention that this year was your 10 year anniversary since your very first album. So, what are you doing? If you're not a Swifty, you may be confused by my sense of expectation, but let's just take a look at the release dates over the past 10 years, shall we?
Taylor Swift: October 24, 2006
Fearless:November 11, 2008
Speak Now:October 25, 2010
Red: October 22, 2012
1989:October 27, 2014
Every other year, usually in October, (disregarding 2008's November album) there is an album release. Taylor, it is 2016. I am trying to remain patient and hold onto a hope that you may release a secret album any day now, but I am growing weary. You've thrown off your routine. You've thrown off ours. October is over. Taylor Swift season is upon us. As soon as the temperature begins to drop, Swifties everywhere roll their windows down and max out their stereos to your music. Every other year, we wait for your killer jams. We wait and are amazed with how you somehow manage to wow us more than ever before with each new song. And for every year that an album is not released, we pull out our old CDs and appreciate them all over again. We experience them like we did the very first time, with a subtle hint of nostalgia coursing through us. We associate cold drives, warm cups of cocoa, magical moments, and wearing our favorite sweaters once again to your music. So, where are you?
I know that many people made speculations on when you would drop a secret album. There were theories regarding numerology that seemed too accurate to be true. Dates adding up to 13, being your favorite number, so people were sure that would be the day. Well, here is what I think. I think that we made you change your mind. It was so expected that it almost didn't seem like a secret album anymore. I know you are all for the element of surprise and I personally think that your dearest fans have made you prolong your release. Now it seems like everyone has forgotten about it. No more theories or speculations. But, I have one.
December 13, 2016. If any date, I believe this is it. Why? December is Taylor's favorite month. She's a Christmas enthusiast, lover of lights, and baking queen. 13 is her lucky number. Every Swifty knows Taylor Swift's demand for thirteens. As she says, and I quote, "I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first #1 song had a 13-second intro. Every time I've won an award I've been seated in either the 13th seat, the 13th row, the 13th section or row M, which is the 13th letter." It is her favorite number, her lucky number, and the day of her birth. She claims it is not a superstition and if she really wanted this album to be her best one, why would it not be on a 13th? If she does grace us with an album this year, I believe it will be during her favorite month and on the day of her favorite number. And for goodness sake, what's a better birthday present to her fans than a surprise album?
This could easily be another theory that will not come true, but I sure hope it does. I have no doubt that it will be the best one yet. She certainly has had plenty of writing inspiration during the course of the past two years. Examples including: taking the world by storm with her girl squad, dating (and planning to marry) Calvin Harris, the breakup that no one saw coming, the short lived relationship with Tom Hiddleston, the Tom and Taylor cheating rumors, all of the Kanye drama,..etc. There is also proof that she has been hitting the studio quite a few times, dating back to September. Getting excited yet?
So now, we wait. We wait, hope, and dream of the day that we can experience Taylor Swift's new songs once again. I'm ready for it all. I'm ready for the intense emotions, love, hurt, heartbreak, confidence, sorrow, strength, and passion. I'm ready for new stories, songs to shout, and memories to be made. I'm ready for Taylor Swift's 6th and best album, are you?
