In the K-12 years, when you had your birthday didn’t matter — there were no inconveniences to get in the way of the celebration (except for people who have birthdays on holidays). As you enter your college years, however, it becomes increasingly difficult to celebrate accordingly. If your birthday is during the school year at a time when it is impossible to go home, for example, so you may find yourself not fully enjoying your special day. This is where summer birthdays begin to shine through.
When I was in elementary school and even middle school, I always remember that the people who had their birthdays during the school year were “cool” because their names were announced during the daily announcements and they would receive endless birthday wishes from random people throughout the day. I am unfortunate enough to not be one of those people, as my birthday is in the middle of June. Now that I am in college, though, I feel like the lucky one.
Summer birthdays mean a lot of quality time and fun. First of all, the weather is (usually) perfect for any time of birthday party you wish – pool party, BBQ, or even just going to a park with a bunch of friends. Not only that, but you get to spend your special day with your loved ones. You can spend time with your family and your childhood friends who barely get to see anymore and create even more memories that you will cherish when you go back to college in the fall. Oh, and you don’t have to worry about exams, papers, or projects, either.
