"The world is too much with us"- William Wordsworth
Too often we think about ourselves and our stuff. We take ourselves so seriously as if we are not just people trying to figure it out. We get offended when people touch our things or make a rude comment toward us but we forget what matters. We are alive and we are present. Any callous action that someone makes is taken personally and sometimes held onto for weeks or longer. It does not matter. I'll be the first one to tell you that life sucks sometimes and it is unfair but in the big picture, this world is going to spin regardless of how I or anyone else is treated. That is not to say that we should not be loving and caring, but instead to say that we should not take such offense when someone does something we don't like. Look at Jesus's disciples, they were all sinners and did things that were offensive to God. Did Jesus get upset and not accept them? No, He loved them and guided them. He showed them what was right and loved them despite their flaws.
I understand that we are not Jesus but as a Christian, that is who you model your life after. You have to at the very least try. You do not get a "get out of jail free" card on this one. We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves. We all inhabit one earth and as a result, we are all neighbors. Sometimes your neighbor is going to park on the street in the spot where you usually park, sometimes your neighbor is going to mow less than they should, sometimes, your neighbor is going to forget to return the leaf blower. Deal with it. It is going to be OK. We have to kill our pride before it kills us. The longer we try to do right by us, the longer we will be upset. In the words of my least favorite Disney song "Let it go".
