"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will hit theaters in 2017 as the 16th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and as the third reboot to the Spider-Man franchise on the big screen. Tom Holland will play the latest version of our favorite geek turned crime fighting hero. Now this Spider-Man film will be very different compared to the first two series of films in many aspects, but I believe that these differences will be what makes this reboot of Spider-Man the last and best.
Now, we first got a glimpse of Tom Holland as Spider-Man in this past summer's "Captain America: Civil War." Spider-Man was recruited by Tony Stark/Iron Man to help stop Captain America's team. Holland did a amazing job portraying a young and eager Spider-Man getting to kick ass with the big boys of the Marvel movie universe.
This is where the first major difference in this newest Spider-Man is going to be compared to the first two live action versions. You see the first two live action versions of Spider-Man were not apart of the larger Marvel movie universe, since back then the rights to Spider-Man's character were owned by Sony and not Marvel themselves. Even though the first two Spider-Men were awesome in their own right, Tom Holland's Spider-Man will now be able to interact with the rest of the Marvel characters that we have grown to love over the past eight years. It has already been confirmed that Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark/Iron-Man in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," so getting to witness Spider-Man interacting with Iron Man while in his very own film is going to be a awesome experience.
The other major difference in this new Spider-Man compared to the two that came before him is his age. The first two actors to portray Spider-Man were Tobey Macguire and Andrew Garfield. In both of these versions, Spider-Man was in his final years of high school during the first films and was out in the real world during the second and third films. Tom Holland's Spider-Man is only around sixteen years old. In "Captain America: Civil War," Peter Parker tells Tony Stark that he has only had his powers for about six months to that point in time. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" happens after Civil War so even then Peter Parker will most likely not have had his powers for more than a year. This will add a interesting aspect into how this newest Spider-Man will act, as he must learn how to balance high school life, while getting used to fighting as Spider-Man.
I believe that at first we will see a super excited Spider-Man who loves fighting crime, but by the end we will come to see a more mature Peter Parker who still is the same sarcastic and funny character we love , but also understands how important his job as Spider-Man really is.
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" will be a awesome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and as a lifelong Spider-Man fan, finally getting to see him fight with the rest of the Marvel heroes will be a awesome experience.
