I recently wrote my first creative story. With that said, music played a vital role in my long writing sessions. Here are the nine songs I used to feel like my character to know what to say next. You can view the Spotify playlist here.
1. "Youth (Acoustic)" by Troy Sivan
I found this song through a show called "Reign," and the scene it was in inspired the characterization of the princess.
2. "Times Are Hard For Dreamers" from 'Amelie'
This entire show is extremely valuable for any story about a girl facing any romantic or social situation. Being able to relate to the character, Amelie, helped me relate to the character I created, Princess Charlotte.
3. "Would You Be So Kind" by Dodie
Let's be honest with ourselves, this song and artist really puts you in the mindset and mood needed for feeling a feeling of love, even if you've never experienced it before.
4. "My Most Beautiful Day" from 'Tuck Everlasting'
Again, the mood and mindset are important. This song specifically illustrates someone else's love story that inspired my two lovers.
5. "Runaways" by Sunderland
This is one of my all-time favorite songs. It is the best song I have used for changing my mood and helping me feel. This song also gave me the establishment of the whole running away part of the story.
6. "Hallucinating" by Elohim
This song is perfect for your imagination to just run with whatever, making it a brilliant tool for any creative slump.
7. "Runaway Kids" by HARBOUR
As you can tell, runaways was a main topic of choice when I wrote the story.
8. "Runaway" by AURORA
Another great runaway song I found.
9. "Runaway With Me" from 'The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown'
Need lovebirds who run away together? This song is perfect for the crushing, butterflies, kissing moments. (And OK, yes. I realize this last one is a cover by Jeremy Jordan. Great version for ultimate creativity.)
