Why I Want Hillary Clinton As The Next President

Why I Want Hillary Clinton As The Next President

It occurred to me a couple weeks ago, while having a conversation with someone about the Iowa Caucus, that I was ashamed to be on Team Hillary. A friend asked me who I was supporting, and I got embarrassed. He had just railed off on why he was Feelin’ The Bern (Insert sexual innuendo about masculinity here), and suddenly I felt like I had this huge confidential secret. I tried to change the topic.

Which is SO STUPID.

Because I LOVE Hillary Clinton. I’m with her and it’s f*cking bulls*it that society makes me feel ashamed to be supporting a female presidential candidate.

SO I’m comin' out: I support Hillary Rodham Clinton, and I’m damn fucking proud of that.

I want a President Hillary Clinton because I believe she is not the best woman for the job. She is the best PERSON and CANDIDATE for the job.

**You don’t like how she flip-flopped on topics such as immigration reform and gay marriage? That’s called progress.

Critics of that argument shouldn’t pretend that they’ve never changed their opinions on important topics before. NO one is holier than thou. At least she owns up to it.

**You think she “plays the game” and has her hand in every Wall Street man’s pocket?

The way things get done in this world is by playing the game. She wouldn’t be where she is today if she didn’t play the game because, uh, sexism. Life is one big game, and she’s fucking figured that out. As a woman, she doesn’t get the option to not play the game like other candidates.

**You think she showed moral discrepancies by not leaving her husband after his extramarital affairs?

That’s great, it’s none of your business actually. She was vilified during that whole scandal 10x more than he was--she was painted as a shrewd bitch who deserved it. And she FORGAVE him. Good god, when did forgiveness become something to berate people over?

**You don’t think she is qualified for the job?

Well, then get your head out of your ass because she’s more qualified to be President of the United States then people who have held the office in the past.

**You think she is untrustworthy because of the Benghazi scandal?

If she had been a man the scandal would’ve been painted in a completely different light. Also, if she can stand trial for 11 hours and come out unscathed, she can fucking run a country. She asked for increased funding months before the Benghazi attack, and the Republican-led congress decreased funding instead.

**You think other candidates know more about how America’s international relations?

NO, cause Hillary Clinton is a former Secretary of State and knows more about US-China and US-Russia and US-blah blah blah relations way more than that know-it-all in your Intro to Government class.

**You think she’ll be moody and temperamental during her **time of the month**?

She is 68. That issue sailed a while ago.

I like Hillary Clinton. I also like Bernie Sanders. I’m sure he’s a great man and I would love to play a game of checkers with him. I think his ideas are swell and I hope to god one day we live in a country where a socialist president doesn’t have to worry about electability--ditto for a female president. I probably side with Bernie on more issues than I do with Hillary. Bernie Sanders is great, but if he gets the Democratic nomination, he will not win President. The Republicans will eat him alive and have a field day with him. He is not electable, currently. Hillary Clinton can fucking win and she can fucking dominate. The Republicans want Sanders nominated because they know they can beat him. They’re terrified of Hilary because they know they don’t stand a chance.

And I don’t fucking want a president who thinks men have the rights over women's bodies, who thinks abortion is a sin, who thinks there should be a wall between the U.S. and Mexico, and who is waging a war against all minorities,

SO I'm on Team Hillary. I like her policies and I like her vision. I like that she has changed and evolved as a human being and as a politician. I like that she has weathered every possible storm and hell that people have thrown at her since going into the public eye, and comes out fighting stronger and better than her rivals who have been dealt the same storms and hell.

Maybe all it comes down to is that I want a female president.

And is that so fucking wrong?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
