You owe your freshman dorm a lot more than you think. Chances are, you met your first few college friends there, learned how to appreciate a real shower, and of course, figured out how to do laundry on your own.
Here at Marist, we have four main freshman dorms and while many will protest, Leo Hall is the best, hands down. It may not be as loud or rowdy as Champ, or as roomy as Marian, but at least it’s not haunted like Sheahan.
Leo is the best of the best, and anyone who lived there could tell you that. So, without further ado, here are several signs that you lived in the lovely Leo Hall:
1. You’ve spent the warmer days on the green directly outside playing Kan Jam or laying around listening to music.
2. You’re a master at the walk to the dining hall in the freezing cold, while passing through the wind tunnel also known as the Champ Breezeway.
3. Hearing constant car horns and upper class men screaming profanities at you as they drive by is something you’re very used to.
4. You’ve spent a little too much time hanging out in the ground floor lounge.
5. Your legs are incredibly strong by now considering how often the elevator was broken, and you had to take the stairs.
6. You’ve swam in the pool that laundry room washer machines created.
7. You can’t pronounce Champagnat.
8. You still have nightmares about the walk to Donnelly before a night out in the winter.
9. Nearly collapsing while walking down the hill to get to the McCann center is a memory you hold dear to your heart.
10. Whenever you meet someone that lived in Leo, you instantly like him or her more than the average person.
11. Some of your fondest freshman year memories were spent hanging out in the halls and rooms of Leo Hall.
