End Of Semester Stress As Told By High School Musical

When you wish it could be the start of something new and you could just bop to the top.

So the end of the semester is approaching and that means...

But sometimes, it's really hard to get motivated. Here are some of the struggles of the final month of school and some methods of getting past them with the help of Troy, Gabriella and the rest of your favorite Wildcats.

1) When your professor decides to give you an extra assignment in the last and most stressful month of school.

Adding even one more thing to your plate at this point is just cruel. Sometimes, it seems like professors are not aware that you have 48,000 other things going on at the moment.

2) When you just can't bring yourself to do homework because summer is so close and there are so many Netflix shows, Youtube videos and Spotify playlists calling your name.

Don't worry, you're not alone in succumbing to these distractions and procrastinating until the very last minute. Thinking about how I felt the last time I put off an assignment until I had to stay up all night writing it and then be a functional human in class for the rest of the day sometimes motivates me to never do that to myself again. But other times, the urge to re-watch Troy and Gabriella's epic love story is too great.

3) When you have that one friend who is always on top of her life and never understands your constant state of stress.

NO, KELSEY, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. Good for you if you have your life together. But you don't understand.

4) When all you want to do is dance out your frustrations on a random golf course in the middle of the desert.

Or in the abandoned school hallways at night.

Or in a junkyard with your BFF.

There are a lot of options, really.

5) When you're running on 4 hours of sleep for three days in a row and your crankiness knows no bounds.

This is the time of year when our inner Sharpay is in danger of taking over.

6) When you psych yourself up for that last exam before you can go home.

And then you get out of the test and you're free!

And there's not a star in heaven that you can't reach.

7) When you start thinking about your future and would like to immediately stop thinking about your future.

Hey, if Troy made it into (*spoiler alert*) Juilliard at the end of HSM 3, then you can accomplish your dreams, too!

8) When you have to leave your friends at the end of the semester and it pains you.

Maybe some of us don't get quite as dramatic as Gabriella when she needs to "go her own way," but saying goodbye is always something that comes too fast at the end of the semester and it is harder than you think it will be.

When this time of the year gets you down and all else fails, feel free to use my method of easing my stress: watching the East High Wildcats and pretending I am in 5th grade again. Bonus: if you still have all the words to all the songs memorized, the experience is 10x better. Just remember, if you ever feel alone or like nobody will ever understand the pressure you're under, don't worry...

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
