Scottsville Area Breaking Weather is adding a new feature. We are making a mobile web app that will send notifications to your phone when there are breaking alerts including: school closings & delays and other closings, weather alerts, preparedness tips, shelters that are open, evacuations alerts, power outages, and emergency incidents.
We want people who don’t have Facebook or have access to Facebook or Twitter to be able to access this. These are the areas which will able to use this app: Southern Albemarle County, the Town of Scottsville, Buckingham, Nelson, and Fluvanna counties. Also, with this web app there will be important links that can be accessed on your mobile device. We also have a partnership with Charlottesville Area Breaking News & Events to have their Facebook link on the mobile app.
Scottsville Area Breaking Weather serves about 500 people in the Town of Scottsville and approximately 300 square miles, and over 10,000 residents. Our main area is Southern Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, and Nelson counties.
This app will help people stay safe during bad weather or when there is a disaster. Also, this app will have what to do during a disaster, my guide to where you can make your own plan before a disaster hits. It has a supply list for your disaster kit, ways to educate yourself, and a function to say "I am safe", which you can send to your family after a major emergency incident or disaster.
