Scottsville Area Breaking Weather has a website now that has great resources that can help you before, during, and after a disaster. What this website does is help people be prepared for any type of weather event. You can find on the website Scottsville ABW threat status levels. Weather alerts scroll across the screen, and there's NBC29 Radar. We want people to understand that this is a great tool to have during any type of weather event or a disaster.
Also we have a breaking news banner on the website when there is a state of emergency or any major event. The following is what we would post for a breaking news story: evacuation alerts, shelters that are open, state of emergencies, power outage alerts, and a lot more.
“This is something that would be great for the community and people who don’t have Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram,” said Executive Director Jack Maxwell.
We will also post the latest school closings provided by WVIR NBC29. We will have preparedness tips that you can have with you in your disaster kit. We also have important links on the website which are links to the three National Weather Service websites: American Red Cross, Virginia Dept of Emergency Management, and the National Hurricane Center.
We can join in together and make everyone weather aware. Don't forget that the Statewide Tornado Drill will be on March 21st, which is a Tuesday, and the Weather Radio will go off at 9:45 AM. The drill will last for 15 mins and end at 10AM.
