Reasons Why Christmas Is The Best Time Of The Year

So the countdown begins (unless you're like me and started November 1st). Less than a week until 'Santa! Oh, my God! Santa's coming! I know him I know him!'.

College kids come home after a stressful week of finals; high schoolers are cherishing every moment of their two-week break, and parents enjoy each moment of their families together again. The stress of Christmas shopping, studying, making sure your grades are in check, traveling home, is finally over!! College students are reuniting with high school friends they haven't seen since Thanksgiving, or sometimes even August.

To me, I love nothing more than waking up Christmas morning, decked out in Christmas jammies, with homemade hot chocolate my mom makes every year, and feeling the joyful energy surrounding me. Seeing everyone open their gifts that you stressed over buying, hoping they would love it (and they do). Relaxing, watching Christmas movies, cuddling with your animals, because being home during the holidays is always the best way to end the year. I think everyone can agree that Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year and always remember; The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for ALL to hear!

Feeling like an old scrooge and need help getting into the Christmas spirit? Here are my favorite things to do when it's Christmas time.

1. Watching my favorite Christmas movies- cliche... I know but putting on Elf, The Santa Clause movies, Mikey's Once Upon a Christmas, or any of the Home Alone films always alway always gets me ready for Christmas.

2. Christmas cookies!!- Christmas cut-out cookies are always SO fun to make with either your best friends or family members. Plus, they're a great snack to have while watching those Christmas movies!

3. Wrapping gifts- Weird, I know but for some reason wrapping everyone's Christmas presents, to me, is super festive and fun. It get's old after awhile but still helps!!

4. Jamming to classic Christmas tunes- Whether you are an Elvis Presley, Mariah Carey, Jbiebs, or Michael Buble fan jamming out to their Christmas albums is so much fun. Personally, joyrides in my car singing Christmas music is the best way to get in the Christmas spirit.

5. Decorate!- A decked out house in Christmas lights, Christmas trees, gingerbread houses, and a lit sugar cookie scented candle always ties anyone into a jolly mood. I know it makes me happy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
