All The Places My Motivation Has Gone

Oh yes, folks. It’s that time of year again. Where our motivation is gone but the school work is picking up. So while I think about school work and feel like this:

or this:

or this:

My motivation is going to all sorts of other places besides my textbooks.

Out the window

At this point, the outside world is pretty great. The leaves are colorful and the weather is nice. It is really hard to focus on school when I am thinking of all of the fun things I could be doing outside instead. Even when the weather is not great, the rainy cold makes me just want to sit on the couch with some hot chocolate.

How long I can sleep?

My bed is pretty comfy. The pillows are soft and the blankets are warm and it’s cold outside in the morning. Getting out of bed is a struggle and trying not to get back into bed after I’m finished with classes is even harder.

How many shows I can binge watch on Netflix?

"How I Met Your Mother," "Friends," "Vampire Diaries," "Once Upon A Time," and "Gilmore Girls" - I must know what is going to happen to each and every character in all of these shows. If I don’t watch the show something terrible is going to happen!!! Just kidding…but catching up on these characters sounds a lot better than studying for that test. Plus I’m going for the record of hours binge watched in one day!

Developing a new “skill”

When I think about doing homework I realize that I really need to see how this book ends. Or learn how to play a new song on the piano. Plus I should really start thinking of all of the Christmas gifts I need to get because that’s only two months away and this paper isn’t due for like a whole day. Clearly, I need to start crafting.

Cleaning the whole entire house

The dishes really need to be done but also the whole entire house should be cleaned. I will get motivated to clean everything from top to bottom before I will want to do my homework.

Discovering a bunch of new music

When I finally decide to study, I need to put on some music or else I won’t be able to concentrate. But there are so many good songs I could listen to while I’m studying. So obviously I need to check out all of the bands and songs that will get me excited to do homework before I can actually do homework.

How many hours I can spend on social media?

After studying for a few minutes, I need to catch up on all of my friends and see all the fun things they are doing besides studying. Hello Facebook…

Cooking all of the new things

I need good food to be able to study well, right? Right! And I can’t just cook the box of Mac and Cheese that’s in my pantry. I need to explore Pinterest for super delicious meals that I am going to make in the next couple of days (or forget about them and never cook them).

If you are struggling with motivation like me, don't worry, the end of the semester is coming soon!

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:
