There is nothing more relieving the going to your last first day of high school. Three years of hard work have gone by, and all that's left to complete is a few classes and then that diploma will be right in your hands! Throughout my past three years of high school I have learned a lot to make my senior year both a blast and a breeze.
The moment I walked into that building that I have come to know so well, I felt a whole mixture of anxiousness, excitement, and nervousness. Why would I be nervous? It’s my senior year! This was my last opportunity to make a good first impression on my first last day of high school. I did manage to make a good first impression to some teachers and as it leaned towards the end of the day, I was getting my first academically caused headache. Time to restock my book bag with ibuprofen!
I took a look at my schedule and I was so excited and asking all of my friends if they had any classes with me. I only have six classes with people I know, one of them being my ex boyfriend! It’s going to be really awkward being in the same illustration class for the whole year, the worst part was even if I wanted to switch to a different period, I couldn’t because that was the only advanced illustration class offered! Some things in life are meant to be, and I guess this was a way of telling me that I need to face my fears. Yes, I secretly fear my ex, but honestly who doesn’t? On the bright side, I have a lot of other classes with my friends and this was good that at least I’m facing my ex in the last year of high school, he was the one person I made sure to avoid when we broke up in my sophomore year.
A lot of my friends are in my classes, which means that I’ll always have someone to talk to! I don’t have any friends in my physics or pre-calc courses, but I’ll still be able to get some help from my friends if I need it. The great thing about high school is that teachers are teaching the same thing and repeating themselves about three to four times a day. Some teachers also tend to miss information in the morning classes that they would cover for the afternoon classes or vice-versa, so by communicating with friends that have a different teacher or different class period you’ll always be clarified on the lesson. For me, I like it sometimes when my friends explain a lesson to me because they know how I process information, and they have the time to explain the logic behind each step you do, meanwhile teachers usually don’t.
I also spent the time getting a new wardrobe because I had clothes that didn’t fit me, and clothes I’ve had since I was 12, and of course I had piles of band t-shirts from the days I used to shop at Hot Topic. Dress for success, it really does help. If you feel good, you’ll do even better!
