Being by yourself really isn't that bad.

I moved out of the dorms and into my own place the summer before my junior year of college. I was beyond excited to live off of campus, far away from the obnoxious fire alarms, crappy dorm beds, and the living quarters in general. Having a place to call my own was special and knowing that I was living alone gave me a sense of being grown up. Some people think that living alone may not be as fun as having a roomie or two, but it really does have its perks.

1. You don't have to wear pants.

Who seriously wants to stay in nice clothes when he or she gets home?

2. You get to decorate how you want.

This means that you can finally order that faux bearskin rug that you've been eyeing.

3. Your food does not disappear.

The worries of your box of Lucky Charms going magically going missing can finally be put to rest.

4. You can keep it as cold or hot as you like inside of the house.

There are always those who prefer the Antarctic to the Serengeti desert and vice versa.

5. You can clean on your own time.

This is not an excuse to let your house start looking like a dwelling off of "Hoarders." It just means that you can clean a little bit whenever you choose each day.

6. Privacy.

Not having anyone bug you early in the morning or when you are trying to study is a wonderful thing.

7. You can have college-induced breakdowns in peace.

No one wants to see you ugly cry.

8. You can stumble in at whatever time you want.

No more worrying about waking up the roomies when you come home from the bar at 3 a.m. with two bags of Taco Bell in tow.

9. Fighting over what to watch on TV is not an issue.

Hello, HGTV and Food Network.

10. You can walk around looking like a hot mess without being judged.

Everyone has those days when doing where doing your hair and makeup is not on the agenda.

11. It teaches you how to be self-sufficient.

You learn how to kill your own spiders, do your own dishes, and much more.

In the end, living by yourself is an experience that everyone should have at least once. You get to learn how to take care of yourself and enjoy having alone time. It also gives you a space where you can study and relax in peace. If you ever get the chance, take a gamble and pick the one bedroom over the two-bedroom.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
