With back-to-college season starting in a few weeks, I just wanted to elaborate on why living in a dorm will be, hands down, the best thing to happen to your freshman year of college - for the first few weeks, at least.
1. All the new friends
You're probably scared you won't make any friends, but in college, that is not a thing when you live in a dorm. You'll walk down the hall every day and see the same faces and eventually be BFFs with the cool girl down the hallway who hates math just as much as you do.
2. You'll never be alone
Even though you may be the kind of person who likes to have your alone time - and, believe me, there will always be a time and place for that - a lot of incoming freshmen are afraid they are going to have to do everything by themselves. Chances are, if you live in a dorm, there will be at least ten other people going the same place you are at all times, so you always have people to travel with.
3. Same major floors
Now, this may just be a thing at certain colleges, but I know if it is a thing at yours, it will be the best thing ever. Trust me, when everyone on your floor has the same major, you can pretty much go to anyone for homework help and the girl from 53B might just be the only thing that gets you through stats 101.
4. New memories
Its one of those nights you just want to go out, you walk to the bathroom and see four or five other girls getting ready and you just happen to know one of them from your 8 AM. she says, "Hi," and you all start talking about what's going to happen and, voila, you all end up going out together and you can blame your dorm for bringing you all together.
5. Your roommate
This may be the best one. Many times you go into this roommate thing completely blind; you don't know her and she doesn't know you, but you might as well give it a shot. And let me tell you, it will most likely be worth it. Your first roommate can be your first and best college friend. You will always remember them, no matter what!
