There's nothing like finding a perfect place to cuddle up with a book and get lost in your own little world. The smell and feel of a book is something that is magical and irreplaceable. The moments that you lose yourself in a book will never compare to the couple of hours that you sit in front of a screen watching the story you once lived in your mind play out. No matter how hard Hollywood tries, they can never replicate the story you envisioned when reading a book. A book will always surpass how well a movie is done.

While a book's words will always be the same, each person can translate its meaning differently. From a character to each place in which an event occurs, a reader is free to use their imagination to the fullest. Unlike movies, books enable the reader to envision each detail to their own liking. Movies oftentimes try to beautify characters and stray from the realness of who people are. Books are genuine and tend to emphasize reality while allowing no chance of Hollywood trying to change the story to be more romantic or cater to the public for the sake of box office sales. A book is written for a reader to enjoy it. Bad acting and screenwriting can easily ruin your favorite book, or oftentimes simply can't do the story justice. Only a book can bring the story to life in a personalized way.

Books allow us to be able to stay in the world of the story for however long we please. Not only are books portable, but we can pick them up and put them down whenever we desire. A movie usually lasts only a couple of hours, but books allow you to get pulled into each and every page, and can last as long as you want them to. The details of a book can never be matched in a movie. There is not enough time, nor would they be able to replace the feeling books convey in words or in the reader’s head. In a book, we are able to see into the minds of each character. We know their thoughts, their intentions, and their motivations. We can feel it all. Movies struggle to convey such raw feeling and detail. With a book, we can escape our own reality and enter a new one, which sometimes can be the most comforting gift. Movies are a fleeting activity, but the memory of a book can last a lifetime. You feel as though you lived it because you were in that world, side by side with that character, yearning for them to find their happy ending.

Movies can be a great activity to pass a few hours, but nothing can replace the ultimate experience that a book brings its reader. The positive benefits that come from a book can never be reproduced on the big screen.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
