The Power Of The Letter J

Bless up, J.

The letter J. Such an innocent letter of the English alphabet. But what is its power in a different context? What is its power when indulged in the sphere of entertainment? The letter J has blessed us with some of entertainment's finest, and of course my favorites. So it's actually not as innocent as it seems. Because of these people we know and love, J has evolved into one of the most powerful and influential letters of the English alphabet... or at least of my own thoughts.

Justin Timberlake

The master of entertainment's assets: music, dance, television and film. How does he do it? Hilarious as a guest on "Saturday Night Live" one minute and selling out at the Staples Center the next. I feel gifted to even be able to witness just how talented he is. He has given us some of life's best gifts, including '90s all-Denim outfits, N*SYNC, "Sexyback," "20/20 Experience" and a whole lot of laughs and gasps -- none other than JT.

Jay-Z

Despite being put on blast in Beyoncé's "Lemonade," Sean Carter, aka Jay-Z, is one of the most successful men in the entire world. He has a $600 million estimated earnings for 2016 alone. ONE. YEAR. ALONE. WHAT. I am lucky if I even make $6,000 in a year. Wait, why am I even trying to compare myself to him? I do not have 13 number one albums, own record companies, manage artists, own a clothing line or anything.

Jimmy Fallon

The oh-so-hilarious James Fallon. My favorite comedian and with that, one of my favorite people. Having seen him live for the first time a few months ago, I have grown to appreciate his intelligence in the television sphere even more. Not only do his sketches amaze me, but the way he has evolved into the person he has become also amazes me. He was not born into fame, he made it for himself. I do not know what I would do with my weeknights at 11:35 p.m. if he didn't land a spot on "SNL" in 1998. Thanks, Lorne.

Justin Bieber

Do I really need to say anything?

Jennifer Aniston

This girl is 47 and still looks this good. A role model for women of any age -- a role model for anybody, actually. Jennifer ruled the '90s, ruled the '00s and is ruling the '10s right now with her beauty, intelligence and talent in television and film. Let us not forget her amazing performances in every episode of "Friends."

Jennifer Lawrence

J-Law. New but not so new as a celebrity. As a powerful feminist and actress, Jennifer Lawrence is also a great role model for anyone. She is one to not care what others think and always stays true to her own values. Whether she's Katniss Everdeen, Rosalyn Rosenfeld, or just herself, J-Law is the boss we all aspire to be friends with.

Jennifer Lopez

Straight outta the Bronx, Jennifer Lopez made her mark as a young dancer who reached stardom on "In Living Color." Over the years she has built herself up to be one of the world's greatest entertainers and actresses -- not to mention her beauty and great personality! She is also one to represent the power in all women. Just like JT, is there anything she cannot do?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
