Recently in the news, we've heard a lot of speculation about Bruce Jenner undergoing transformation to become a woman. There have been mixed feelings about this transformation, but I've personally only heard positive reactions. This is the kind of change we need to see in the world. The power of acceptance is huge and liberating to have in our society.
Diane Sawyer's interview with Bruce Jenner lasted 90 minutes, and through it all he just wanted everyone to know that he is trying to be happy. He's finally coming out and coming to terms with the fact that he has the soul of a woman and that's who he should become.
While watching the first couple of minutes, you saw the tears in his eyes, awaiting his much speculated confession. Following the flow of tears was the relief that flooded through them, when he said, “Yes, for all intensive purposes I am a woman." It was so vivid in his eyes and most of all, to me, heart-breaking that after 65 years this man waited so long because of what people might say. The judgment he would face, the jokes that would be made about him, all because he's doing what he wants in order for him to be comfortable and honest with himself. But it was also inspiring because without even realizing it, he is paving the way for a safer environment for the younger people in his situation. Also, inspiring anyone to follow their dreams no matter what people say. All alone he is changing the way people think for the better.
Bruce is not the first celebrity to undergo transgender surgery. There are famous stars like:
People Magazine's, Janet Mock

Thomas Beatie, the pregnant man

Chaz Bono, Sonny and Cher's kid

Jenna Talackova, Miss Universe Canadian Pageant

Needless to say, Bruce is not the first celebrity, but he is the biggest celebrity making it known that he is doing his thing. My favorite quote from the interview was his closing remark: "Have an open mind and an open heart. I'm not this bad person, I'm doing what I have to do." Doing what he has to do in order to be happy. He's not harming anyone at all, and I think everyone needs to sit and watch this interview and really listen. My words for Bruce, "Go on with your bad self!" The only thing I'm curious about now is what will be "her" name? Until then, peace out, friends.
