If you live on - and I mean on, not in - Long Island, also known as "Lawn Guy Land" by many, here's how your perfectly stereotypical summer day would go down.
First you would wake up and roll out of bed, as any human being would. After that amazing feat, because let's face it, bed is bae, you hop in your car to go pick up breakfast. (Now here's where the separation between a person from Long Island versus a person from anywhere else begins.) Your breakfast is probably a bagel or a bacon, egg, and cheese from the nearest bagel shop or deli which you solemnly swear is the greatest place on Long Island for bagels.
After chowing down, you'd pack up your car with a blanket, cooler, towels, snacks, and most importantly, friends. You would most likely drive down the Meadowbrook to Long Beach so that you can stroll down the boardwalk. But if you aren't feeling Long Beach, you can always drive down to Jones (or Tobay if you're feeling fancy). Because let's face it, the Hamptons are a little bit overrated at this stage of the game to you. And too far. While you're driving, you'd probably be drinking an Iced Tea or Arnold Palmer and singing along to Billy Joel songs.
After beach bumming the majority of the day away, you go back to drop your things off at your car and head over to Nikon Theater to see a concert. But if you don't feel like buying tickets, you can always stay in the lot and listen along too. It's most likely a country artist because country music and summer go together like peanut butter and jelly.
You sing along to your favorite songs, or at least the songs you recognize while munching on some pizza. Once the concert ends, it's back into your car to drive to Ralph's for Italian Ices. The real question is, which kind do you want, water or creme based? After avoiding a numbing brain freeze, it's back home to hang out for a bit. Maybe you'll play some Spikeball or Kan Jam, both respectable choices. You can chitchat, sing, drink, dance, and laugh the night away.
Before you know it, it's anytime between midnight and two in the morning. The perfect time to visit the diner. You may go get anything from french fries and milkshakes to chocolate chip pancakes. After devouring your food and assessing the size of your food baby, which you are undoubtedly beyond disgusted yet proud of, you know that it's almost time to turn in for the night.
You bid your friends goodnight, head home, hop into bed and fall asleep dreaming up your next beautiful Long Island summer day.
