Dear Freshman,
Hello, this is your classmate. I've been around for a while, have had about 3 years now of college classes, and yet have not encountered someone as rude as you before. I am shocked at the lack of manners that is being displayed, so I thought I would write you a quick note to help you recognize that if the shoe is fitting, you should definitely take note and change some of these behaviors quickly.
Now I'm not sure of your financial situation, maybe your on a full paid ride, but I and many others am not. So each time you decide to come to class and talk over the teacher the entire time, that is about $300 I am loosing. Yes, I've done the math, and each class attended at University averages out to about this for me. Now if you are not having to pay this per class, that is fantastic, but most of us do, and with all do respect, we didn't pay to hear about how your weekend went or how your not following what is going on after you haven't shown up for half of the semester.
Now- news flash, this will not fly in the future with professors. As you age, you are expected to mature, and with that comes responsibility and respect. This means showing up to classes, being respectful of the teacher and your classmates, and turning in all work on time. If in the future you do not change over to this expected norm, you can expect your grades to reflect it and facing consequences that go along with not showing up to class. This is not high school, you can't skate by on being the class clown or being popular, no one truly cares about that anymore.
We are all trying to make the most of an expensive education and set up the best futures we can for ourselves. With all of this being said, you can continue to do as you please, but realize that if you get kicked out of classes for being disruptive, you only have yourself to blame.
Sincerely,
A Disgruntled overworked, underfeed and tired college student.
