With the semester drawing to close, the words “ready to be done,” are valuable in the conversations of many college students. I completely understand this mindset, however, I am an outlier. I am simply not quite ready to be done.
Time is always changing; it moves around us without the slightest of detection. But all at once it seems to engulf us, and before we know it, fall has turned to spring and spring to fall. We then aimlessly stand and wonder what would have happened if we had just held onto a single moment just a little bit harder.
The end of finals week represents the return of old friends, and the departure of new friends. We often times find ourselves in a daze as we try to explain to those of old all about those of new. But stories are never quite told the same way, and jokes do not always translate in ways that we wish they would when talking to different people from separate phases in our lives. Suddenly, the realization that things will never be the same becomes quite apparent.
I do not intend for this notion of the passing of time to sound depressing. I am simply reminding you that the stress, worries, and hard times will soon be over. Those moments that we take for granted will be all that we have left in the end. These moments are what make life exciting, they make us happy, and they remind us that while we are going through ups and downs, we have people right there beside us to make it a little bit more tolerable.
I understand that you’re “ready to be done,” but don't be. Be ready to keep going, and to embrace every little moment that comes your way.
