I know you've seen him, the memes are everywhere. Kermit the Frog has become a meme icon- he is so popular that you can't scroll past seeing a meme related to him.
One of the newest memes is about Kermit's two sides, good versus evil. This uniquely displays that there are two sides to every person; Kermit, the normal and kind thoughts we have, versus Evil Kermit, the self-serving indulgent selfish thoughts.
As humans, it's normal to feel two ways. I admit, sometimes the Evil Kermit wins. I choose to "throw the shade" and be "salty" towards others. However, it is time to say goodbye to my Evil Kermit.
This year I've caught myself being so blinded by the negativity and pessimistic views I had that it let myself spread it on to others. I let my negative, selfish opinions win over me. It has become a part of me that I wish didn't exist.
I admit that it does feel good to be "savage" sometimes. However, lines have become blurry and it's difficult to know where to draw the line with our words and actions.
I have been feeding off of the negative energy. In return, I didn't realize that I had hurt people along the way and consequently, they hurt me back.
Why are we so determined to hurt one another when we have the choice to be a positive energy in the world?
I have learned that it is so easy to fixate on the horrible actions and thoughts that we make daily, but we have the choice to change that. It's not worth it. No one and nothing is worth the time and negative energy.
Lucky for us, we are all human and we all make mistakes. The best thing for all of us is to work on becoming better people. We can say goodbye to Evil Kermit. We can forgive each other and move forward. We can choose to be the good and only that.
At the end of the day, the good is the only thing we can hold on to and hope to remember. Fixating on the bad is not worth it.
You do not want to remember the times that you've hurt someone's feelings, you want to remember what you did to become better in spite of that. Be the good and inspire change.
