Nintendo, with their wide range of brightly colored cartoon/cell shaded characters, has long been known as the console of kids: but why are kids the only ones who get to have all the fun? Nintendo appeals to party games with large groups, so I have taken it upon myself to make the console a little more adult.
You’re welcome.
Beerio Kart:
What you’ll need:
Game Console (Anything from SNES to Wii U)
Mario Kart
2-4 Controllers
1 Beer per race (The number you will need will vary, depending upon your tolerance)
I can not take credit for this game myself, but it is one of my favorites on the list. The premise of the game is simple: Be the first one to finish the race with an empty beer. However, much like in the real world, drinking and driving is frowned upon; thus it is important that anytime you drink you must come to a COMPLETE STOP before you start drinking. Any person who is stopped is fair game for any traps or sabotage. The winner is automatically in enrolled in the next game.
Drunken Master:
What you’ll need:
Game Console (N64, Gamecube, Wii or Wii U)
Super Smash Bro equivalent for your console
2-4 Controllers (preferably 4)
Jello Shots (a lot, adjust strength for tolerance of all players[for themed jello shots check out this link for Pokeball Jello Shots]) and Beer (If you’re playing Brawl or higher)
Super Smash Bros has long been a favorite group game and this variant will monopolize on the good times. Start a match with up to three items of your choice (one of which MUST be Pokeballs with everything else turned off) with the Pokeballs set to the highest drop rate. You can set the parameters of the match to whatever you want, be it lives or time or coins. The rules of the game are easy: Whenever you pick up a Pokeball you must take a Jello shot before you throw it. This leaves you open to douche moves by your friends and getting smashed off the map. If you get a Chansey everyone else drinks (sub Wobbuffet in Brawl), if you get a Goldeen you have to take a shot. If someone gets a Smash Ball and takes out another player(s) the losing player(s) must waterfall a beer until they respawn.
Mario Partay:
What you’ll need:
Game Console (N64 through the Wii U)
Mario Party equivalent for your console
2-4 Controllers
Beer and Shots (Jello preferably) lots of each
With the many variants to rules for the different games, you will have to adjust the rules according to the version you are playing. The basic rules across the board are as follows:
Roll a 2-9: Drink per second for half your roll (Odd numbers round down [a 9 will drink for 4 seconds])
Roll a 10: Everyone else drinks for a second
Land on Green: Everyone else does a shot
Land on Red: Drink for a second
Coins/Mini Star theft: Waterfall your beer
Free for All Battle: 1st place=0 seconds, 2nd=1 sec, 3rd=2 secs, 4th=3 secs
2v2 Battle: Each team drinks for half their coins/stars
The final variant for the game is: if you are playing a game where you can lead, at the beginning at each turn, if you are ahead you drink for half the spaces you are ahead.
These three games should liven up your next get together with friends and give you a reason to dust off the old consoles. Just remember: Be responsible. Like in Beerio Kart: Don’t Drink And Drive.
