Packing Is SUPER Stressful So Here's A Go-To List Of 12 Things To Always Have In Your Carry-On
Caitlin Magowan

Packing for an upcoming trip has to be the most exciting and stressful thing ever. No matter how detailed my packing list is, I always forget something. I can't be the only one that forgets something, right? Occasionally I will forget a toothbrush, no big deal I will go to the nearest grocery store. But if you forget socks or underwear, you're screwed basically. Because who wants to go to the mall when you are on vacation? Or even worse... what if there is NO mall around?

Anyway, I'm off to Colorado for a long weekend trip. I am beyond excited! Colorado has always been on my bucket list and I finally get to check it off come Monday when I return. I normally pack light, I want to say I have become a pro at it. I will be staying at my cousin's and they have a washer and dryer so it is easier to pack light since I will be able to do laundry.

Normally I bring one carry-on suitcase and pack a backpack. I won't bore you with which clothes and shoes I am bringing, so here is a list of my travel necessities for my backpack or purse:

1. Clorox wipes for the plane

I am such a germaphobe. I wipe down the tray, the headrest, arm rests, basically any surface my body with make contact with

2. Gum for take off

I need to be chewing gum or else my ears will kill me the whole way.

3. Headphones

To watch the free movies they provide us. Funny story, on my way to Vegas this summer I was watching Midnight Sun with Bella Thorne and by the end of it I was crying so hard I was hyperventilating.

4. Chapstick

I don't really go anywhere without chapstick.

5. My electronics and their chargers

9to5mac.com

I always bring my laptop because I always have school work due and I obviously cannot live without my iPhone.

6. Portable charger

You might have just said, you already included your phone charger? I bring a backup in case there are no outlets near my terminal.

7. Deodorant

For some reason I always sweat a lot in airports mainly because of nerves... aka missing my flight. Once I get off the plane I want to feel refreshed, too.

8. Water bottle

I usually bring an empty water bottle so I can fill it up once I get through security so I can use it for the remainder of my trip.

9. Sunglasses

Just in case it's sunny where I land.

10. Healthy snacks

nuts.com

I usually bring my own because I don't want to pay for overpriced airport snacks.

11. A good book

I always bring a book, but I never end up reading it. I like the idea of having one with me.

12. My neck pillow

This baby is my saving grace. Especially for long plane rides, I just throw it around my neck and I'm out like a light.

Well, I'm off to Colorado! Catch ya after my trip! XX

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
