"Be the change you wish to see in the world." - Ghandi
This is one of my favorite quotes and has always inspired me. Life has a funny way of showing you things. For example, I remember the first time I heard this quote. I was shopping in Target and stumbled upon it in the home decor section. I remember thinking, "This quote was placed here for me by God himself." At that point in my life I was struggling with what I wanted to get out of this whole college experience. I was torn between doing something that would make me a lot of money but probably wouldn't have made me very happy or doing something that wouldn't make me that much money but was what I could see myself doing for the rest of my life.
After my discovery, I decided that doing what I wanted in life was the way I could change the world. By being happy and living my life to my full potential, I could inspire others to do the same. Imagine living in a world where everyone was happy. That would be wonderful, and although I'm not naive enough to believe that we will someday live in a perfect world, I'm optimistic enough to believe that being happy and teaching about positivity can inspire others to do the same. You have to put out positivity in order to receive it.
My goal is to impact people's lives; I want to make them feel better even if it's just for a few seconds, or maybe change the way they see the world. That's why I decided to go into communications. With this degree, I can reach so many audiences, not only with television or radio, but now I can reach them with my words on a platform like this one. I can blog, and post pictures, show them things that just might change their lives. I realize now that inspiring others is how I will change the world; that is the attribution that I bring to the table. We all have special gifts and abilities that could change the world, and it is up to us to find these gifts and share them with the world.
"We can change the world and make it a better place. It's in your hands to make a difference." -Nelson Mandela
