This Christmas, my family decided to go see a movie after our day of celebration. The boys went to see the new Star Wars movie, and my mom, sister, and I went to see one of the best movies I have ever seen, “The Greatest Showman”. I highly HIGHLY recommend this movie to everyone who has a pulse.
Let’s just say this was one of the best decisions ever!
First off, the music is absolutely phenomenal. I’m a huge fan of musicals, and would have sworn by your classic Broadway shows in a heartbeat, but this movie has thrown me for an unexpected loop. I bought the album prior to seeing the movie and automatically fell for every song, especially the last one. Then seeing the movie, and watching the music come to life was nothing but magical. Not interested in seeing the movie? Please listen to the soundtrack. It’s only 40 minutes, and it’s 40 minutes well spent! I can’t decide which number is my favorite.. they’re all too good!!
Even if you don’t enjoy musicals or musical movies, it is so well worth it. The artistry in this movie blows you away. For example:
This scene.. talk about *breathtaking*
The choreography is sensational, the beauty and grandeur of all of the scenes are worth seeing and experiencing. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen and even though I downed a medium coke before the movie and felt like my bladder could burst, there was no way I was missing a second of it. There’s an element of whimsy that truly captures you and though you sit in a theater chair and you’re killing your bag of popcorn it’s almost like you are a part of P.T. Barnum’s circus family.
This movie is magical.
Another plus is there are some AMAZING actors in this movie. Hugh Jackman is stellar. Zac Efron is charming (and frankly blows Troy Bolton out of the water). And Zendaya is enchanting.
The casting is nothing short of brilliant and outstanding.
This story of P.T. Barnum has so many dynamic people and twists and without spoiling anything, (hint: I really want you to go see it), this story brings outcasts into the light and lets them be who they are and be proud of it. The love interest between Zendaya and Zac Efron’s characters was so endearing, and it stayed true to how people would react to biracial relationships back then. This movie inspires people to just be you and be proud of that, especially when no one else seems to be.
“No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else.” - P.T. Barnum
In case anyone was wondering, “The Greatest Showman” was absolutely wonderful. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite movie because there are so many great movies out there, but I can easily say this movie is one of my favorite movies I have ever seen. You need to go see it.
