Dear John,
This makes me feel exactly like in the movie "Dear John" where that woman writes that letter to John, whoever that is. I don't know.
You were born with a condition that ended up leaving you in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. I was born with both of my legs working. And, even though you can't move them around very well, I still love your tiny legs and small feet. They're cold, which is perfect for when it's really hot and I can't find any relief because it's too cold outside to turn on the air conditioning. Sometimes they are hard to move around, but that's only because they're so stiff you're not very flexible, but that's okay. They're smooth because of the leg braces you wore for thirteen years to straighten them out, and you're a better person for them.
You have this rather large wheelchair that is not too heavy, but even I have difficulty with it sometimes. You get to push it by yourself every single day, and you tell me that you've got it all under control when you do. Your arms are becoming more muscular every day, and you're becoming a better person for it.
You have a large heart that is full of love and concern, two things that mix together so well when you combine them correctly. Sometimes we fight because there's more concern for me and what I'm doing than the love and support that you're trying to show me, and that's okay.
You proposed to me at 2 in the morning on December 30, 2014. I won't lie and say that I didn't see it coming, but if it wasn't for my best friend, I don't think it would have been as cute of a proposal as it was (go best friend, that's my best friend). We had just gotten done playing NBA 2K14, and I sucked at it. I really did, but you were patient with me. You were tired, and I was tired, and we were both ready for bed.
I decided after getting comfortable that I needed to go to the bathroom. That was when you decided to pull out this rock of a ring.
Of course, it was dark. I couldn't see the ring at the time, but I knew that from what my best friend had told me (and we tell each other everything), it was the most beautiful ring I would ever receive from anyone.
When I laid back down in bed, you tapped my shoulder again. I huffed, laughed, and flipped over. When I did, I saw that you were propped up on one of his elbows. Here's what you said to me:
"I was gonna do this on new years eve, but screw it, I cant wait any longer. Will you marry me?"
Obviously, I was overjoyed and drunk on sleepy. But I knew what I wanted, and I knew what you had intended for us all along, so, of course I said yes.
You're so important to me, and sometimes you don't see things the way I do. But I promise one thing: You're the best thing that ever happened to me, and I can't wait til graduation, 'cause after that it's forever.
I love you, my darling.
Sincerely,
You're One And Only
