'One Tree Hill' Was More Than Just A TV Show

There’s so much to learn from the characters in our favorite shows

'One Tree Hill' Was More Than Just A TV Show

I have just wrapped up season six out of nine of the series One Tree Hill. I feel as if I have taken the journey with the characters through all the hardships and the amazing moments of their lives. I have learned important lesson from the five main characters and I have also included a few others that I think deserve to be mentioned as well. There is something to take from the characters mentioned as well as all the other characters that have ever joined the show. Where are these Characters at the end of season six?

*Warning: Spoilers below*

Lucas Scott taught us to never give up on the person you love.

He loved Peyton for years before ever talking to her. While they had a bit of a tough go in high school by the end of it he realized she’s worth it. After high school, they broke up after he tries to propose to her. But don’t you worry, the end of season six they are married and have a beautiful baby girl.

Nathan Scot taught us how to achieve greatness even when you were once broken.

I’m not going to lie: I hated Nathan in the beginning. When you think of Nathan, basketball is one of the first things that comes up. He was leading scorer in high school and was supposed to go on to great things. He was injured extremely before his dreams could come true. He was in a wheel chair and at an extremely low point in his life. He took the impossible and made it possible when he made a full recovery and started playing again. This lead him to make it to the NBA in the final episode of season 6

Haley James taught us the important of not giving up on someone

She has been through it all with Nathan and has been by the sides of all the other characters listed here. Haley became a teacher after high school and has noticed several students who are a bit troubled and has made a difference in their lives. After a disagreement with her teaching views, Haley is fired. At the end of season six she is producing and recording music.

Peyton Sawyer taught us passions can be careers

Red Bedroom Records is the result of growing up loving music. You can see in earlier season her collection (that covers an entire wall in her bedroom) of Vinyl records. After high school, she went to LA to work for another label. She returns to Tree Hill and starts the label thanks to Brooke. At the end of season six she has had her baby girl and in married to the love of her life, Lucas.

Brooke Davis taught us how to be strong and much, much more

Brooke is one of my favorite characters on the show. We see her grow into an incredible person throughout the show. She started her clothing line in high school that turned into a multi-million-dollar company. We see her struggles of finding love she can trust. We see her wanting a family unlike the one she grew up with, and even having that shortly. We even see at the end of season six the reconnection of her and her mother.

Honorable mentions

Jamie Scott taught us to be ourselves

I love this kid. He got all the amazing qualities of the characters above. He often helps other characters with realizing what’s the right thing to do and is always supportive and motivational.

Quentin Fields taught us a comeback is possible

His death hit the characters in the show hard. It hit me hard too, I screamed as I realized what the show had done. He is the reason Nathan got back to the top and was a great friend to Jamie. He was one of the “bad kids” in Haley’s class she helped bring back.

Whitey Durham taught us its more than just a game

Coach was one of my favorite characters on the show. I was sad when he stopped showing up in episodes, but he came back for the final episode in season six. A continuous phrase he would remind his team was that there’s more to life than basketball.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
