To My Future Self, These Are 5 Things I Can't Wait To Say As A Mexican Mom Who Survived Quarantine
Anna Hernandez-Buces

There are some timeless phrases (like the ever useful, "We have food at home!") but times are a-changing.

This quarantine is my generation's version of "I walked ten miles a day to get to school." So as I continue to try and find the positives during this time, here are five things I can't wait to say when I have kids.

1. "Yo me quedé en casa por dos meses, tu te puedes quedar por una noche!"

"I stayed at home for two months, you can stay in for one night!"

Oh, children of mine, when you ask to go out, you will regret it.

2. "Vete afuera a jugar! Tienes suerte, había un tiempo que nadie podia a salir."

"Go play outside! You're lucky, there was a time when no one could go out!"

Will I guilt my kids into playing in the backyard? You bet I will.

3. "Bored? En mi tiempo, yo estuve en cuarentena por dos meses, yo si estaba bored."

"Bored? In my time, I was in quarantine for two months, I was bored!"

Boredom will not be allowed at my house.

4. "Ponte Vicks! Nadie se va enfermar de ningún virus en esta casa!"

"Put on vicks! No one's getting sick from no virus in this house!"

As we all know, Vicks VapoRub cures all.

5. "Tenemos comida en la casa!"

"We have food in the house!"

And of course, we can never turn back on our roots...because we have food at the house.

We all have to find something to look forward to in the middle of quarantine. That is, expecting this quarantine to end anytime soon.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
