Matte Lip Gloss Review

The newest trend right now in terms of makeup is matte lip gloss. With so many options, how do you know which to choose? I've started experimenting with different brands as well as my friends and sister. After gathering different opinions, I've rated five different matte lip glosses to let you choose which works best for you!

1. Kylie Lip Kit by Kylie Jenner

The Kylie Lip Kit is what got my attention to the newest crazy of matte lip glosses. Until Kylie came out with her lip glosses I really hadn't paid much attention. My roommate and sister both have different colors of Kylie Lip Kit and they both really like it. It's called a lip kit because each box comes with a gloss and liner.

Price: $29

Number of Colors: 7 (22, KoKo K, Posie K, Candy K, Dolce K, True Brown K and Mary Jo K)

*Colors listed are in a different order than picture above

Pros: Long wear and great taste

Cons: Expensive, hard to come by and takes a while to ship

Kylie Lip Kits are only available online at http://www.kyliecosmetics.com/. They sell out in less than 30 minutes so, if you want to try out this brand, you have to stay updated on Kylie's social media because she will announce when a release is and then, before you know it, they're gone. This gloss is on the more expensive side but from personal reviews as well as online reviews this stuff seems to be the real deal!

I'm giving this gloss a 4 out of 5.

2. NYX Lip Lingerie

NYX Lip Lingerie is my newest find and if you follow me on Pinterest, you have probably noticed I've been pinning this stuff like crazy. NYX in general is a great brand so their coming out with a new matte gloss was really exciting to learn about.

Price: $7

Number of Colors: 12 (Baby Doll, Lace Detail, Push-Up, Bedtime Flirt, Embellishment, Exotic, Ruffle Trim, Satin Ribbon, Teddy, Beauty Mark, Honeymoon and Corset)

*Colors listed are in a different order than picture above

Pros: Long wear, inexpensive and easy to find

Cons: Colors are very similar

NYX Lip Lingerie is really one of the best I've tried so far. It is SO cheap, I mean, hello, $7?? I don't think you can beat that. This product is long lasting and fun with its flirty names. It was hard to find a con but I do think that a lot of their colors look very similar and it's easy to get confused on which color to by. Other than that, this stuff is pretty great! You can find Lip Lingerie at Target, Ulta and online at http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/lip-lingerie/NYX_315.h....

I'm giving this gloss a 5 out of 5.

3. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

Before NYX Lip Lingerie came out, LYX Soft Matte Lip Cream was already on the market. This isn't as popular as the other brands mentioned so far but it's still good to mention it now.

Price: $6

Number of Colors: 34 (You can find the full list at http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/soft-matte-lip-cream/N...)

Pros: Inexpensive, easy to find and so many color options

Cons: Not long lasting and flakes easily

This was the first matte lip gloss I got for myself. I was honestly pretty let down by this gloss. It really dried my lips out, and I found myself reapplying it multiple times in one night. I will say that the amount of colors available are great and again the price is amazing! Maybe this gloss works for others, but it wasn't my favorite.

I'm giving this gloss a 2.5 out of 5.

4. ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip

This was the first matte lip gloss I ever tried that a friend let me borrow and it is what started my new obsession. I put it on and never wanted to take it off. I loved it!

Price: $6 (plus shipping)

Number of Colors: 43 (You can find the full list at https://colourpop.com/product-category/lips/ultra-...)

Pros: Inexpensive and long wearing

Cons: Online only

This matte lip gloss is amazing! My friend showed me this brand and I immediately was hooked. My favorite color so far is Beeper. This gloss is great because it really lasts for a long time. Another perk is how cheap it is, minus the fact you have to pay for shipping. The only annoying this is that you have to wait for this gloss to come in because they are exclusively online.

I'm giving this gloss at 4.5 out of 5.

5. Dose of Color Matte Liquid Lipstick

I have never personally tried this brand, but my best friend refers to it as her "holy grail for liquid lips!" She uses this brand a lot and swears by it!

Price: $18 (plus shipping)

Number of Colors: 16 (You can find the full list at http://doseofcolors.com/collections/matte-lipstick...)

Pros: Long lasting and great colors

Cons: Online shipping costs

This gloss seems to be one of the best! The only annoying part is the price is higher than some others mentioned but not the most expensive and it's only online. According to my friend, those cons are worth it! This stuff is the real deal.

I'm giving this gloss at 4 out of 5.

Other brands to look for:

Gerard Cosmetics

Kat Von D

Jeffree Star Cosmetics

Ofra Cosmetics

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
