If I Found A Magic Lamp: My Four Wishes

We have all thought about it at sometime in our life -- what would we do if we came in possession of a magic lamp? So I wanted to let you all know what I would do if I came across a magic lamp. Obviously, all typical genie rules apply, like you can't wish for more wishes, you can't bring people back to life and you can’t make anyone fall in love with you. Many of you may think that genies only allow you to have three wishes, but in this case I get four because well, I’m the author and couldn’t decide on just three.

1. To Not Be Allergic To Dairy

For my first wish I would wish that I would not be allergic to dairy anymore. When I was 16 I found out I was allergic to dairy and I honestly believe that if I was not allergic to dairy that all of my problems in life would be solved. I would finally be able to order a pizza and not have to slide that gooey delicious cheese off of it. Every time I drive by a Dairy Queen I instantly fall into a deep pit of sadness knowing that I will never be able to eat a banana crème pie blizzard with cookie dough in it again. If I get the ability to tolerate dairy my life would finally have meaning.

2. To Have A Billion Dollars

I thought about asking for unlimited money, but then I figured there would be no fun in that because going gambling would have no point, which takes all the fun out of Las Vegas, Nev. If I had a billion dollars I would buy a mansion in Los Angeles, Calif. and allow my whole Indiana State family to live there because honestly those are the most fun people I know and we have fun in Terre Haute, so I can only imagine the activities we could do if we had a billion dollars. I would also buy a monkey because I’ve always wanted to have a pet monkey named Rico.

3. The Ability To Talk To Animals

This way I can have conversations with my dogs back home and he won't just look at me like I’m an idiot and he will be able to help give me life advice. I’m not really sure if dogs have a lot of life experience, but I feel like they are always happy, so maybe they could share there secrets to being happy 24/7. Animals probably have so many secrets of life that we have never discovered. By talking to them, I would become the master of all animals.

4. The Ability To Stop Time

I would wish for the ability to stop time whenever I wanted. This way I would never be tired because if I ever wanted to sleep in or take a nap I would just stop time. Possibly the best part of stopping time would be being able to relieve myself from a stressful situation because I could just disappear. I would then probably become the most powerful man in the world and thus, probably causing me to takeover the world by brute force because I would be untouchable via the power of pausing time.

I’m not sure how getting four wishes from a genie went from me not being allergic to dairy to taking over the world with my pet monkey Rico, but I can honestly say I’m not ashamed of it. I feel like the world would be a much better place if I was the king, but I feel like that may scare some of you. I feel like I would be a great leader, that would build our empire to the strongest in Earth’s history, greater than Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar ever did. Let's just hope for the sake of humanity that I never discover a magic lamp.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
