10 Signs That You Are Over This Semester

We have now reached the point in the semester, where we are almost out of effort to go on. It seems that every week is another week to get through and every teacher has coordinated their syllabus so you have some assignment due every day. The warm weather has left us, Halloween has passed, and now we must wait another month for Thanksgiving. If you've become a victim to mid-semester blues, then you are not alone. Here are some signs that you are officially done with this semester.

1. You’ve given up on wearing real pants.

I don’t care what anyone says, leggings ARE pants and I will wear them seven days a week.

2. Doing homework at the last minute is your goal from the beginning.

Yes I have a planner, and I use it to plan the last possible moment for me to do my Business Statistics homework.

3. A pony tail has become your hairstyle of choice.

You look at girls in your class with perfectly curled hair and wish to be like them when you grow up.

4. You feel bad that no one answers your professor's questions, but you still won’t participate.

I’m sorry you’re painfully trying to get us involved, but I missed the past hour of what you just lectured.

5. You say “I’m so tired” about 25 times a day.

Kinda wanna get ahead on schoolwork, kinda wanna take an 8 hour nap.

6. You’d rather eat cereal for dinner than make the trek down to your dining hall.

I’d love to get a warm meal, but I’d rather eat Cheerios in my warm apartment.

7. You debate whether or not you should skip class every day.

Should I go? Should I nap? I should nap. No this class costs too much money, I’m going.

8. You actually convince yourself that you don’t need to study for a test.

I’ll be okay. I’m a great test-taker. I made a mistake. I hate myself.

9. You wait until you’ve run out of your socks and your roommates' socks before you do laundry.

Hey! I accidentally borrowed ten pairs of socks, here you go friend.

10. Even though you had a month to write that paper, you complete it four hours before it’s due.

I write best under pressure, with bags under my eyes, and while having several mental breakdowns.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
