Why I love Sigma Alpha Omega

I just really love my sisters

Why I love Sigma Alpha Omega
Sigma Alpha Omega

Sigma Alpha Omega is one of my favorite things at the University of Georgia. SAO is such an incredible and Godly organization. When I went through recruitment, I instantly fell in love with all of these beautiful women. Here's some more reasons as to why these women are still some of my favorite people at the UGA.

1. Community

I have never found a better sense of community than when I am with my sisters. They are such Godly women that it is always so amazing for me to talk to them about daily struggles. They can always provide me with such strength and tell me exactly what I need to hear.

2. Accountability

I know that no matter what I end up doing, my sisters are always going to be there to support me. My sisters will help me through whatever I am going through and help me to become the woman that God would want me to be. My sisters are always the first people to hold me to my pledge to always be a good person.

3. Sisterhood

There is nothing better than spending the day with my sisters. They all have such beautiful hearts and it amazes me how great they are. They are truly my family. They can understand me better than anyone that I've ever met. My sisters understand what I am going through and what I need. They are my best dance partners, pastry chefs, and movie buddies. They are the best craft buddies and always throw the greatest parties.

4. Service

My sisters have such a beautiful heart for service. They are always out in our community selflessly serving others. Whether it's feeding the homeless, making care packages, cooking a meal, or just writing letters for children in Kenya, they are constantly doing work. It amazes me how great these girls are and that they continue to serve the community and the Lord every single day.

5. Fellowship

There is nothing better than singing songs about my Heavenly Father with my sisters. Watching each of them sing, while completely focused is absolutely astounding. It's such a great feeling learning more about God while I'm being surrounded with some of the people who mean the most to me. Having them there with me and watching them grow with me in their faith is like no other.

6. Dining Hall Buddies

Going to the dining hall by yourself is always awkward, but the best thing about being a part of a sisterhood is the ability to always have someone to sit with. With over a hundred sisters, there's always more than likely someone to sit with. We even have a dining hall GroupMe, which means that you always have multiple people to sit with at any time throughout the day.

7. Cute Apparel

One of the great things bout being in a sorority is the cute apparel that you get to wear, there is nothing better than being able to rep SAO on campus. Our apparel is alway adorable and a great way to get across God's message.

8. SAO Isn't Like Other Sororities

My sisters are the sweetest people on the universe. They are not like regular sorority girls. With the sorority being centered around Christ's love, we are different in that everything we do is based off of God and the Bible. We are based in the Love of Christ and following who God wants us to live our lives.

9. GroupMe

Our groupMe is one of my favorite parts of being in SAO. I can always count on my sisters for prayers, answering questions, and even meeting up to study. Our groupMe always makes me laugh. Whether I'm being told stories about speeding to VeggieTales or I'm telling my own story of dumpster diving, there is always something not there to brighten my day. It's one of the best ways to become closer to my sisters.

And last, but not least...

10. Jordan Calhoun!

This year for the UGA 2016 Homecoming Court, SAO has been fortunate enough to have one of our own to represent us on the Court! Jordan Calhoun is such an amazing and kind soul. She is always so open and honest about her relationship with her Heavenly Father. It's truly amazing how incredible this young woman is. She is so bright, joyful, and such a pleasure to be around. Make sure that you vote this week for Jordan Calhoun for the 2016 UGA Homecoming Queen! #Jordangshequeen

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.
