Ah yes, Netflix, the one thing that always seems to stand between me and studying. With thousands of movies and television shows to choose from, it's so easy to spend hours catching up on Orange Is The New Black or watching that weird indie movie that no one has heard of. Let's be real, we would all be more productive - especially as college students - if Netflix didn't exist
Even if you're not currently in college or even in school I'm sure you can relate to my love/hate relationship with Netflix. It's a great service because it offers instant streaming of awesome shows and movies so that you don't have to wait for the DVD's to come out or find a terrible quality version somewhere in the deep dark depths of the internet. Personally I'm a bigger fan of the shows rather than the movies, some of my favorites being Parks and Recreation, The Office, Orange Is The New Black and Gilmore Girls.
Substitute YouTube for Netflix, and you have me. Oh I have a six page paper due tomorrow? Better catch up on what's happening on Breaking Bad instead! Netflix makes it so incredibly hard to get things done and that's where the hate part comes in. It's the part of the internet that you love to hate.
The array of movies are also something to love and simultaneously hate. The critically acclaimed movies like The Shawshank Redemption and Forrest Gump are great but there's a strange side to Netflix too. I've had some weird nights randomly deciding to watch one of their more obscure movies and not knowing whether I'm enjoying it or if I'm uncomfortable and disturbed. Then of course their old Disney movies are especially appreciated, now I can watch Mulan whenever I want!
I think the last thing that I hate to love about Netflix is it's logic. I'm not sure why they have sequels to movies but they never provide the first one. How does this make sense at all? For example, they have How To Train Your Dragon 2 but NOT the first?! Not acceptable Netflix.
Despite their flaws though, I will always use their service and continue to be addicted to the many dramas and comedies they have. Netflix may have come in like a wrecking ball and slowed down my productivity but like Miley says...
