Thanksgiving is without a doubt my favorite holiday! But in college, Thanksgiving break is the short-lived escape from the stress waiting for you after the break is over. It is also a time to see family and friends and update them on how the semester has been for you. My family is pretty understanding about not asking too many questions, but I usually get a few questions that even Lorelai would cringe at. Luckily she always has a sarcastic comment and her adorable love of snow to keep her going. She really is a college student in a mom's body and that's part of the reason why we love her.

1. Feeling all the excitement to see your family AND celebrate the holiday season

I love this time of year, everything is so pretty and there's food and ahhhh.

2. After your professors finish their list of assignments due Monday after break

Why are you like this? It's called Thanksgiving Break, not Thanksgiving you tons of homework Break.

3. Getting in the zone driving home after your last class

This may be the only alone time I have all week, savor the ME time.

4. Talking to your high school friends that don't ask you about your love life.

You are the real MVP.

5. Trying to do your homework over break

I physically don't know how to do my homework. Help me!

6. Answering your family’s endless questions about your major, love life, future…

I'm at college to figure these things out, so it's all good, I'm good. She says this as she stuffs her face with more food to avoid answering more questions.

7. And then explaining your answers to your parents later.

I don't think anybody knows how to not disappoint Emily Gilmore, so we all feel you there, Lorelai.

8. Hitting those sales for Black Friday weekend.

It's called online shopping for a reason. And I can do that from my bed, so I'm going to pass.

9. Taking advantage of Thanksgiving late-night study snacks

I mean it's there and it's home cooked and that's all the motivation I need.

10. Realizing everything you have waiting for you back at school.

I don't think I can make it another 3 weeks AND take exams. I'm going to need more pie.

11. Returning to school like

How does one "study" again, because I'm still on break in my mind. 3 weeks, just 3 more weeks

Lorelai gets it. Thanksgiving break is much needed, but it still has its share of struggles. I hope your coffee cup was always filled and you had plenty of pie. I also hope you enjoyed this time with family and friends because it was sure to be better than a Friday night dinner at the Gilmores.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
