Having Long Distance Best Friends, Explained By Unlikely Animal Best Friends

Wherever you go in life, you’re bound to make new friends. Whether you move to a new school, go to summer camp, play a sport, or venture off to college, making friends is almost a given. But that doesn’t mean you stop being friends with the other people in your life. It can be difficult to keep in touch with some people, especially if you only get to see them once or twice a year. Unfortunately, some people will fade away over the years, but the people who are really important to you will stay in your life forever. Having best friends that you don’t get to see regularly is hard, but, if anything, it makes it that much better when you do get to see them. If you’re familiar with this situation or are just curious to see what it’s like, take a look below.

1. Separation anxiety is a real thing.

2. Something will remind you of them, and it sucks when you realize they’re not there.

3. FaceTime is the best thing since sliced bread.

4. You make detailed plans of what you’re going to do together at least three months before you actually see each other.

5. And when you do get to see your best friend, nothing has changed.

6. All the inside jokes are still just as funny as they were before.

7. You stay up all night filling each other in on the past year.

8. But then the one day reunion comes to an end, and you aren’t sure when you will be together next.

9. And realizing you don’t get to see your best friend every day, week, or month is a struggle.

10. But you know that it’s going to be OK because, at this point, nothing will end your friendship.

Even if you don’t text your best friends every day and you don’t know every detail of their life, you know that they will always be there for you, and you will always be there for them. You will most definitely be at each other’s weddings still laughing about the same things you laugh about today. So just remember that even though having long distance best friends isn’t ideal, you can make it work.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
