Climate change is very real...there is no denying it at this point. Our ice caps are shrinking, the sea level is rising, and more and more animals are becoming endangered every year.
There is natural and human causes of climate change. Since the Industrial Revolution, climate change due to human influences has increased significantly. However, it is not too late to make a difference. The smallest things can truly make a huge difference. Here are just a few things that you can do to help the environment:
While I am sure you have heard this a lot...RECYCLE! If you make recycling a part of your daily routine, it won't take long before it becomes habit. Some towns/cities have free drop-off areas for recyclables, so look into your town to see what it offers.
Donate your gently used items. When you go through your closet, don't throw out the clothes that you no longer want. Donate them to your local thrift shop. Most thrift shops will also take household goods and books.
Reduce your energy use. If you start being conscious about the amount of energy that you use, you will form energy-saving habits. Turn off the lights when you leave a room. Turn off your computer and unplug electronics when they are not in use. Unplug any chargers that are not currently charging an electronic device.
Think about the way you do transportation. If the weather is nice and your destination isn't too far, walk or ride your bike. Not only will this benefit the environment, but it will also benefit your health.
These are just four, very easy things that you can do. But while they are easy, they will make an impact. Imagine if every single person in the world were to make these changes in their life. Change starts with one person and then continues to expand and grow.
If you start making these changes in your life, your friends and family may start to do the same. We are only given one planet to live on, we need to do everything that we can to protect it. Enough damage has been done. It's time to do help our planet before we destroy it completely.
