An Open Letter To My High School Best Friends

Yes, I will be angry forever that we didn't receive "Best Squad" as our senior superlative.

"True friends are never apart, maybe in distance but never in heart."

Let me start by saying thank you.

Thank you for always being there for me through thick and thin.

Thank you for having faith in me even when I wasn't able to have faith in myself.

Thank you for having my back.

Thank you for showing me unconditional love.

Thank you for helping me through some of the hardest times...

and for being the one by my side through all the fun times too.

Life would not be the same without each of you.

Yes, our lives are starting to go in different directions, but that's just part of growing up. With that being said, I have faith that the bonds created through our four years of high school are too strong to ever be broken. Every single one of you have a special place in my heart and I wouldn't trade our relationships for anything...

To my best friend/roommate,

From 6th grade to now, you have been there every step of the way. We have seriously been through it all together. I never understood what they meant by the term "ride or die" until I met you. I can't imagine a life without you in it. P.S. Shoutout to us for being in a committed relationship to being single together forever.

To the friend I tell everything to,

I am so grateful you're this person for me. No matter what I come to you with, you are there. Whether that means listening to my struggles, giving me advice, or just someone to be crazy with... I can always count on you. You never judge me and that seriously means more than you will ever know.

To my any time friend,

It is great to have you in my life for so many reasons. I could go a week or two without talking or seeing you, but as soon as we are reunited it is like we never stopped hanging out. I can always depend on you to be phone call or text away any time I need it. You are the friend I can vent to about my issues, but also the friend I can hit up anytime I am looking to have some fun.

What a year it has been.

I think as members of "squad" we can all agree the past few years have been quite an emotional roller coaster for our friendships. Our lives have gone through so many seasons of drama, unstoppable love, and everything in between but at the end of the day we all really, really love each other (maybe sometimes too much lol). You girls are my world, my rock, my everything. You are the people I can truly be myself around and the friends that love me even when I make all the careless mistakes I do. You're the girls who understand me more than I understand myself.

I love you all so much and I hope you know I am always going to be there for every single one of you.

Also, I expect squad Christmas to be a tradition even when we all have our own families and "real-world" jobs (geez, what a scary though that is).

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
