Let Me Tell You About My Best Friend

Let Me Tell You About My Best Friend

I have a younger sister, and when I grow up I want to be just like her. She is the perfect role model. I honestly don’t know how I would have gone through life without her. She is many things, but most importantly she’s my sister. I think older siblings sometimes think that their little sibling is just going to learn from them, however, if you take a step back you might realize things that they have taught you. These are some of the little lessons I have learned from my little sister, who is one of my best friends.

1. It doesn’t matter what people think of you because you are fabulous.

My little sister doesn't pay attention to things that others say about her. Little sisters know they are awesome, and they make sure you know you are too.

2. Do not take life too seriously.

Take a break from the responsibilities of life, and watch a "Grey's Anatomy" marathon because it's your life and you should do what you want with it. It is always fun to have a Netflix marathon with your little sister.

3. If you want that donut, have it.

Yes eating healthy is important, but if you want that donut your sister is always the one to tell you to go for it, (and to eat one, too).

4. Always stand up for yourself.

Don’t let anyone bring you down, stick up for yourself and your sister will be the first one to back you up.

5. You deserve the best.

She always reminds you not to settle because she thinks you deserve the best. Also, your sister deserves the best presents from your significant other.

6. Make sure you get enough sleep.

Your sister is always there to tell you it's okay to take a nap. Everyone needs a break once in a while.

7. Family is the most important thing.

Without your siblings you would not be the person you are today; to have a set of best friends right when you are born is very lucky. Do not take it for granted.

I think having a little sibling is the best blessing in the world. The older you get the more you realize you need them and their positive attitudes, even if there is hint of sarcasm. So from playing with Polly Pockets to walking in the high school halls together, you know you couldn’t have gotten through it all without your little sister. I might not tell her how awesome she is, but my little sister is the coolest person I know. Coming to college made me realize how I always took hanging out with my sister for granted. She is always there no matter how far apart we may be.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
