It’s true what Dorothy says, “There’s no place like home.” I love my hometown. I love it because my family and friends are there. I love it because I know where everything is and who everyone is. I love it because it’s where I grew up and made all of my memories. I love everything about it, but I left because there is nothing there for me.
As a young teenager, I always felt the desire to leave and do something different than everyone else. Coming from a very small town, most people would graduate then attend one of the local colleges, and there is nothing wrong with that. But for me, I always wanted something more. I always wanted to be different from everyone else. I have always had and still have a very strong desire to be successful and independent, and I believe a very important quality for success is independence.
Success is something most young adults don’t have the drive for anymore; they simply want the easy way out. They would rather get to the money fast and not be able to work their way up to a higher position; as opposed to taking the time, spending the money, and putting forth the effort to get an education andbe able to move up in the workforce.
I do not think that simply moving away from home will just provide me all of these things. It is not that simple. To me, it is the act of leaving and gaining the independent that is required for success. I can get my degree anywhere, but I cannot gain independence anywhere. I strongly believe that independence is required for success. I want nothing more in the world than to be extremely successful, independent, and most importantly happy. I want so much more than my hometown could have ever given me.
