You made it through the academic year. Go you. After the papers are submitted, final exams taken, all-nighters accomplished, many return home. Here are the stages of that transition.
1. Excitement
FAM. OLD FRIENDS. NO HOMEWORK. Life is good. Everything you missed about home is right in front of you. For a moment you forget the finals and "what do I want to do with my life?" questions and it's just you and that school's out feeling of childhood.
2. Hybernation
The excitement can’t keep you up forever. There is a point when you just want to sleep into eternity. And so you do.
3. Wait, three months is really long.
And then you start to miss your friends, roommates, campus, even—dare I say it—your classes. You realize that you won’t see most of the people you’ve grown to love until school starts up again, which is a scary thought.
4. Deep breaths
Even with the knowledge that you will miss school, it’s summer. There is just something about that school’s out feeling that can’t bring you down.
