Know The Code: Calling all Bonnaroovians
In Your Speakers

Festival season is upon us, my fellow rave babes - the time where the best memories of your life are made, and where you're reminded of what exactly it means to live fully.

If you've been, you know that a music festival can only be understood by the community that inhabits it - each festival brings a unique experience, an energy of like-minded people that cannot be explained, and true bliss.

But with that being said, there are a set of responsibilities that you as a festival go-er must honor in order to keep your experience and environment as love-filled and magical as possible:

Roo-tang clan, this one's for you: Bonnaroo Music Festival.

Since 2002 Manchester TN has welcomed each of our free spirits and wild hearts with open arms for the best four days of our lives - aren't we lucky?

Let us not forget to show our appreciation and love for those behind the magic, and pay our respects by not only knowing the code, but staying true to it throughout Bonnaroo, as well as anywhere that the wind may take us.

PREPARE THYSELF

Think ahead! The Tennessee sun is unlike any beauty you've seen - but as with all beautiful things in life, if you're not prepared, you could get hurt. Stay hydrated, layer up on that sunblock (nothings worse than raving with a sunburn), and the commonly forgotten: bring shade for camp! Tapestries are both stunning to gaze at and an excellent source of shade. Don't worry though, if you don't have a source of shade make friends with the neighbors - as a roo-tang clan, or bonnaroovians, we care and share.

PLAY AS A TEAM

Making new friends is what festivals are about - keep your old friends safe, as well as strangers. If you see someone who needs a hand or drink of water, offer it. Be the person that you would want to meet. Nothing will make someone's day more than simply showing love and kindness.

RADIATE POSITIVITY

Let the energy of the farm and the music take your soul, be here when you're here - don't worry about your troubles, it will put a damper on your experience. Positive vibrations and radiation are personally, the most important factor of the code. Being a gleam of bright light, that initiation of high-fives, hellos, and hugs are day-making, and experience changing, for both the giver and receiver. Positive energy is the aspect that will mold your soul, and won't leave you.

RESPECT THE FARM

Peace, love, respect, unity - otherwise known as PLUR is a common identity that most festival go-ers carry with pride. We live it with one another, but have a tendency to forget to spread this to our environment. Your environment effects your experience! Don't forget your manners and clean up as you go too keep Roo beautiful! Don't forget the four R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rave.

DON'T BE THAT GUY/GAL!

You see it at every festival, it's time to stand up and work towards ending the bad vibrations of the person who takes it too far. C'mon - we're all here for the best times of our lives, make sure you don't miss it or waste it being that person.

Lastly,

STAY TRUE ROO

Before you know it, it'll be over - make sure you squeezed everything out of the experience that you could. Leave the festival with nothing but wonderful ideals to bring back to the real world - if you open your heart and your mind, the people you meet, the environment you're in and the experience you have will change you in the most positive of ways.

Know the code, live the code, and as always: have a magical time.

Happy Roo'ing!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
