“And the lucky numbers are…”
What would it be like to hear my numbers called for the Powerball on Wednesday evening? For those who have been living under a rock, the Powerball currently stands at $1.3 billion. Yes, I said billion.
The last drawing had no lucky winner, so it is set to be drawn again at a new record-breaking amount of $1.3 billion. The previous record was $656 million, but the lottery amount has clearly shattered that record set back in 2012. What you have to be thinking to yourself at this point is: what would I do with that all of that money?
Well, here’s what I would do with $1.3 billion.
Buy a new house.
I would buy a new house. I would make sure the house my parents own has no payments left, and if there was, I would cover that too. Family is everything, and providing for them after all they’ve provided for you has to feel even better.
Buy a new car.
We all have dream cars. That one car we wish we could have if we could actually afford it. Well, seeing as I’m a lottery winner, I’m buying that car! I’ve always pictured my dream car as a bit more realistic, but seeing as I’m swimming in money, we’ll make an exception.
Pay off student debts.
Goodness, it’s unfortunate to be a college student, nowadays. Cost of tuition has risen tremendously, and many of us are still paying off debt years after we graduate. Seeing as that is the case, I am not holding on to my student debt. Paying it off while I can.
Most importantly, I’m going to Disney World.
As any sports athlete would tell you, when you win big, you celebrate bigger. I would do this by following in the footsteps of many Super Bowl winners and saying, “I’m taking my family to Disney World!”
To me, the most important part of having money is knowing how to use it. For that reason, I wouldn’t spend my money on anything too ridiculous, though if you do plan to, I would advise reading this.
I would love to be the one to tell you “may the odds be ever in your favor,” but the truth is, they’re really not. Your chance of actually winning is one in 292 million. I’m not going to be the one to ever jinx you, because as you’re reading this, I have already bought countless tickets for my one shot at “rags to riches.”
In fact, by the time readers do read this, the Powerball ticket will have been drawn. For that reason, I wish everyone the best of luck, but if I do win the lottery -- sayonara school world and hello beautiful money.
